GRANADELLA

Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida

Granadella.png

Official blazon

Escut caironat partit: 1r. d'argent, un ram de granadella tijat de gules i fullat i fruitat de sinople; 2n. de gules, una mola d'argent nadillada de sable. Per timbre una corona de baró.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 31, 1983.

The arms are canting: they show a branch of "granadella" (the Catalan name for the pellitory of the wall, Latin name: Parietaria diffusa).

La Granadella was the centre of a barony; this is reflected in the arms by the baron's crown at the top and the canting arms of the Moliner family (literally a miller in Catalan): Gules, a millstone Argent, in the second partition.
