The silver church (Kirche) is a canting element. The acorns are taken from the arms of the Longeville abbey in Saint Avold, to which the church belonged. The alerion is the symbol of [[Lorraine]], as the village was part of the Boulay estate, owned by the Dukes of [[Lorraine]].
