Origin/meaning

The arms combine elements for the four villages : the bell stands for Heisa and the importance of the local church bell for the history of the town. The rooster stands for St. Ottilien and refers to the Huguenots who founded the village. The symbol under the bell is the mark for the glass-blowers of Wickenrode. The ash tree (Esche) is a canting element for Eschenstruth.
