HERBRECHTINGEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Heidenheim
Additions : 1928 Eselsburg; 1972 Bissingen ob Lontal, Bolheim; 1973 Hausen ob Lontal

Wappen von Herbrechtingen

Official blazon

Schräglinks Rot über Silber durch einen rotsilbern geschachten, schwarzbordierten Balken geteilt, begleitet von je einer alemannischen Zierscheibe (nach Art eines achtspeichigen Rades) in verwechselten Farben.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1953.

The chequered bend is a symbol for the former monastery, founded in the 12th century and abolished in 1557. The monastery played a major role in the local development. The two wheels symbolise pre-historical jewellery found in graves in the municipality.

The arms replaced a logo used since 1920, which showed a crosier with a plough and a wheel, symbols of agriculture and industry.
