Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1953.

The chequered bend is a symbol for the former monastery, founded in the 12th century and abolished in 1557. The monastery played a major role in the local development. The two wheels symbolise pre-historical jewellery found in graves in the municipality.

The arms replaced a logo used since 1920, which showed a crosier with a plough and a wheel, symbols of agriculture and industry.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
