Incorporated into: 1976 Destelbergen

Wapen van Heusden (Oost-Vlaanderen)/Coat of arms (crest) of Heusden (Oost-Vlaanderen)
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 3, 1817.

The arms are based on those of the Burggraves of Gent, Lords of Heusden in the 13th century, who used a black shield with a silver chief. They had their principal castle in Heusden.

On the 18th century seal of the village the upper chief was shown in ermine. The meaning thereof is not known. In 1817 the arms were erroneously shown as a divided shield instead of a chief. This has been corrected in the new arms of Destelbergen.
