German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

HOHN

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Amt : Amt Hohner Harde

Wappen von Hohn

Official blazon

Gespalten von Blau und Gold. Vorn ein Hahn, hinten ein wachsender, oben mit einem Eichenblatt besteckter blauer Dreiberg in verwechselten Farben.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 28, 1983.

The rooster is acanting element, in the local dialect it is called a Hohn (proper German Hahn). The name, however, is derived from hill or elevated area (Höhe). The highest hill in the area is called the Eichberg (oak-hill), which is symbolised by the small mountain in the other half. The colours are those of Schleswig.
