Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest and only seal of the village, dating from 1790. The seal shows the barred lion of Hessen and a six-pointed star. The meaning of the star is not known, it is most likely a simple symbol to distinguish the arms of the village from those of Hessen. The village was a possession of the Counts of Hessen since 1479.
