Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 2, 1994.

The castle represents the first building of the region, that gave shelter to the settlers against the local Indians and wild beasts. The spindles are the symbol of St. Anne, patron saint of the city. The wild boar symbolises the pig farms in the area. The river symbolises the many rivers in the region.

The shield is flanked by bean and corn branches, the main crops in the region.
