Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on

The upper right half shows a wavy bend for the Donau river. The colours are those of Bayern. The upper left half shows in red a silver bend, these are the arms of the State of Regensburg, to which the largest part of the area historically belonged. The point shows a red cross, which is a canting symbol (Kirch=church) and at the same time it symbolises the two places of pilgrimage in the municipality, Kössnach and Niederachdorf.
