Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 2, 1983.

The right half shows in the lower part the arms of the Lords von Brobergen, who were already mentioned in the 12th century. The former municipality of Brobergen also used these arms. The upper part shows the three blue points of the family Von Marschalck, who have their estate in Hechthausen in the municipality. The left half shows a silver wavy bend in green symbolising the Oste river and the agricultural charachter of the area.
