Origin/meaning

The arms of the city combine the eagle of Upper Silezia with a wheel. The meaning or origin of the wheel is not known, but the combination already appeared on a seal unkown since 1396.

The above arms are directly based on the seal, whereas Hupp showed an image in different colours and composition, see below. The black eagle is the eagle of the German Empire and is most likely shown wrongly here.
