Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1962.

The wavy bend symbolises the two rivers that run through the village. The water mill wheel in the lower left corner symbolises the fact that the water mills are the oldest in the area and they where of great local importance. The wheel in the upper right corner is the wheel of |Mainz, as the area belonged to the State of Mainz from 1425 until 1802. The three crosses in the bend are taken from the arms of the German Order, who owned some part of the present municipality for many centuries.
