In Gold ein roter Löwe. Origin/meaningLaufenburg was named Kleinlaufenburg from 1804-1930 to distinguish it from the other half of the city on the other bank of the Rhine River. This Laufenburg (or Grosslaufenburg) is now in Switzerland and uses the same arms. The arms show the lion of Habsburg as the oldest known ruler of the village was Count Rudolf II of Habsburg in 1207.
