Origin/meaning

Until the late 19^th century the municipality simply used a letter L on its seals. In November 1900 the State Archives proposed to add a rose, taken from the arms of the Lords of Eberstein. The village belonged to the Counts of Eberstein until 1387 and from 1387-1660 it was ruled jointly by Baden and the Counts of Eberstein. The council approved of the new arms in May 1900.
