Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 22, 1990.

The division of the shield symbolises the three villages in the municipality. The keys are a symbol for St. Hippolytus, the patron saint of the local church. The wavy bar is the Kossau river that runs through the municipality. The helmet is taken from the arms of Knight Johann van Rixdorf, dating from 1349. Two of the villages, Lebrade and Kossau, historically belonged to the Rixdorf estate for centuries.
