MALA SUBOTICA

County : Međimurje County

Coat of arms (crest) of Mala Subotica

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on November 29, 1995.

The nine points of the star refer to the number of settlements in the community: Držimurec, Mala Subotica, Orehovica, Palovec, Podbrest, Strelec, Sveti Križ, Štefanec and Vularija. The star is also interpreted as a Marian symbol, standing for the parishes of Mala Subotica (chruch of Nativity of Mary) and Orehovica Orehovica (church of Our Lady of Fatima), as well as the symbol of the County. The blue is said to stand for unity of the inhabitants of the community and white for purity and wisdom.
