Arms of Mikołów

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 17, 1996.

The helmet appeared for the first time on the 15th century seal of the town. Why the helmet was chosen is not known, it may have been a symbol for the King or for the legendary founder of the town, Mikula.

All later images and seals have shown the helmet, although the size, shape and colours of the arms have differed widely during the centuries.

The present arms were finally granted in 1996 and the colours, size and shape have been defined.
