Origin/meaning The arms were granted on October 29, 1943. The main occupations and sources of income in the municipality are fisheries and agriculture. The main agricultural crop is the potato, hence the lower part shows a potato plant. Potato starch is also produced nowadays in the area. The upper part shows an, undefined, fish for the fisheries.
