Origin/meaning

The arms were approved by the town council on the 5th May 2010 and granted by the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies on the 9th November 2010. In that year the town celebrated its 450th anniversary.

The green field represents the town's location deep within the forest while the two silver bars show its location between the Elbe river and Borecký stream. The silver bridge is both canting for the town's name (Mostek - "Little Bridge") and based on a historical bridge found in the town. The mill stone represents the fact that the local sandstone rocks were historically used to produce millstones. The activity was confirmed via an archaeological dig in 2000.

The coat of arms and flag were designed by prof. PhDr. Vladimír Wolf from Trutnov and the official depiction is the work of Jiří Škopek, ak. mal. from Jaroměř.
