Origin/meaning

The arms show a sword and a key and are derived from the arms of the old Diocese of Naumburg. From the 1390s until 1994 the key was placed over the sword, since 1994 this is reversed, based on the historical seals.

The arms already appea ron 16th century seals of the city.
