NEUENKIRCHEN

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Dithmarschen
Amt : Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Heider Umland (until 2008 Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Weddingstedt)

Wappen von Neuenkirchen (Dithmarschen)

Official blazon

Über grünem Schildfuß, darin ein silbernes Wollgras, in Gold die rote Neuenkirchener Kirche.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 22, 2000.

The upper part shows the canting church (Kirche)m which was first mentioned in 1323 and devoted to St. Jacob the Elder. The present church dates from the 18th century as the old church was burnt in 1704 and 1729. The lower half shows a cottongrass flower, a typocal plant in the marshy areas of the municipality, known as the Weisse Moor (white marsh).
