Gespalten; vom in Blau ein steigender, linksgewendeter, rotgezungter goldener Hirsch, hinten in Blau ein silberner Schrägbalken, oben begleitet von einem schreitenden, rotbezungten goldenen Löwen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were proposed in 1903 and later that year adopted by the municipality.

The deer is taken from the arms of the St. Blasien Abbey, to which most of the area historically belonged from 1432-1803. The Abbey acquired the area in 1432 as a gift from Heinrich and Rudolf von Friedingen, the former lords of the village. The bend and lion are taken from the arms of the Von Friedingen arms (see also the arms of the former municipality Friedingen).

In the 19th century the village used on its seal a kind of undefined long tool, which had no historical significance.
