PRIGNITZ (PR)

State : Brandenburg
Additions : 1993 Perleberg, Pritzwalk

Wappen von Prignitz/Arms (crest) of Prignitz
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 14, 1994.

The goose in the upper part of the arms is a canting symbol for one of the oldest ruling families in the district, the Gans family from the 12th century. The wavy division line symbolises the Elbe river. The pearls in the upper part are canting for the city of Perleberg. The wolf in the lower half is derived from the arms of the city of Pritzwalk.

The red and silver colours are those of Brandenburg.
