Origin/meaning

The arms of the city show a city with in front of the gate a small shield with a deer. The arms date probably from the 17th century and the deer is taken from the arms of the Counts of Proskau, who at the time ruled the town.

The above arms show the deer in heraldically correct colours, Hupp showed the arms with the deer as used by the counts, see below.
