RÜDESHEIM AM RHEIN
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Rheingau-Taunus Kreis (until 1976 Rheingaukreis)
Additions : 1939 Eibingen; 1977 Assmannshausen, Aulhausen, Presberg
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms show the two patron saints of the city, St. James and St. Martin. The saint appear already on seals from the 15th century onwards. As arms they were used in the last century and officially adopted in 1895 and granted in 1935. The shell in the upper part is the symbol of St.James.
From a heraldic point of view, these arms are overly complicated and shown in an illegal colour scheme (red on green).
