Official blazon

Mustassa kentässä kolmoisvuori, jonka yläpuolella kaksi kirvestä vinoristikkäin; kaikki hopeaa, vuoressa punainen raudanmerkki.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 5, 1954.

The lower part of the arms is cating, rauta-vaara means iron-mountain. The symbol on the silver hills is the symbol for iron. The upper part shows two axes, which symbolises forestry. Iron mining and forestry have been the main activities in the municipality.
