Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 30, 1975.

The eagle is taken from the arms of the Tom Brook family, who were local Lords in the area and who had their castle in Oldeborg. The last of the family, Ocke II died in 1427.

The platter symbolises the gold platter from prehistoric times, found in 1910 in the village of Moordorf. The 10 bars in the base symbolise the 10 former municipalities.

The arms were designed after a local contest.
