SANDE

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Friesland
Additions : 1972 Gödens

Wappen von Sande (Friesland)

Official blazon

  • (de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1950.

The right half of the arms shows the tower of Marienhausen in the municipality, built in the 16th century. The lion is taken from the arms of the Lords of Jever. In the 16th century Lady Maria von Jever had the church built and she also ordered a large area to be reclaimed from the sea as a polder. The waves symbolise the North Sea.
