Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted in 1939.
The chief shows the lion as used by all municipalities in the Grossen Freien territory. The lower half shows the blade of a spade, originally symbolising agriculture, but now also used as a symbol for the potassium mining in the area. A spade was also used by Henning von Sehnde in the 15th century.
