Official blazon
German In Rot ein stehender goldener Hirsch, oben rechts ein sechsstrahliger goldener Stern.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The deer as the symbol for Sigmaringen appears already on the oldest known seal of the city, known since 1316. All later seals and arms show the deer, most often standing, but sometimes jumping.

The deer itself is most likely derived from the arms of the Counts of Peutengau-Hirschberg (Hirsch=deer), Lords of Sigmaringen until 1253.

The colours are generally gold in red, but until the 19th century also gold in blue appears.
