Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 19, 2002.
The arms reflects the local folk tale: during the Reformation Prince Radvila tried converting the Svėdasaiparish to Calvinism, but he met resistance of local people. Angry for the stubborness of the common people, Radvila drowned the bell of local Catholic church in the Alausas lake. But the bell continued sounding from the deep, supporting liturgy and strenghtening souls. So Svedasai remained Catholic.
