Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 17, 1975.

The castle evokes the first building in the region, where the settlers came to looking for protection from perils such as fierce Indians and wild animals; the fleur de lys are the attribute of the Blessed Virgin, patron saint of the city and the wavy base represents the three great rivers: Turvo, Sao Domingos and Onga, which flow near the city.

The supporters show that coffee and orange are important agricultural products of the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the Latin motto "UNUS OMNES SUMUS" (all of us are one).
