Escudo de Tortellà/Arms (crest) of Tortellà
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat: d'or, un tord de sable perxat sobre una branca de sinople en faixa acompanyat a la punta d'un mont floronat de sinople. Per timbre, una corona mural de poble.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 25th July 1990.

Canting arms: they show traditionally a thrush ("tord" in Catalan) perched on a branch. The floury mount below alludes to the near castle of Bellpuig, literally "beautiful hill". This castle was destroyed during the earthquakes of 1428, and its lords possessed, in late 16th century, the barony of Sales, to which the village of Tortellà belonged.
