Spanish	Escudo cuartelado. Primero, de gules, tiara y llaves pontificias en sus colores. Segundo, representación de la montaña El Sombrerito al natural, con bordura de plata. Tercero, de oro, pino en su color. Cuarto, de plata, racimo de uvas de sinople. Al timbre, corona real cerrada. Bajo la punta, cinta de plata con la leyenda Vi la Flor de Chasna en letras de sable.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 11, 1992.

The mitre, here a tiara, and the keys are attributes of St.Peter, the local patron saint. The mountain in the 2nd quarter is one of the most characteristic places of the local landscape, it is called "El Sombrerito". The tree is symbolizing the vast forests with their pines, especially the "Pino Gordo"(=thick pine), having the biggest diameter of the whole island.

The grape is symbolizing viticulture.

The inscription below the shield is an alusion to an old legend. In 1496 a Castilian captain in persecution of fugitives in the gorge of Chasna captured a beautiful Guanche woman and fell in immortal love to her at the very same moment. But the woman escaped and he became insane of love and died a little bit later, all the time screaming: "I have seen the flower of Chasna" (span.: " ¡Vi la flor de Chasna!"). Therefrom the municipalities name is derived. This was the historic name of nowadays Vilaflor municipality.
