Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 14, 2001.

The ring symbolizes the craft and profession of many of the townspeople, as many are occupied with jewellery or as goldsmiths.

The honeycomb in the base is a symbol for work and industry. The two bunches of grapes represent the many vineyards that the surround the town.

The blue and gold colours are canting; Vilamar is a composition of two words vila=small town mar=sea. Tradition has it that the present location was once part of the ocean beach.
