Département : Gironde

Blason de Villenave-d'Ornon

Official blason

D’or à la tour de sable ouverte et maçonnée d'argent posée sur une champagne d'azur chargée d'un croissant d'or; au chef de gueules chargé d'un léopard d'or.

Origin/meaning

The arms show in the chief the lion of Aquitaine. The tower is the symbol for the Counts of Ornon, who had a castle here and the village developed around the castle. The golden colour refers to the white wines of the region. The crescent in the base refers to a bend in the Garonne river in the municipality.
