Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on July 2, 1975.

The eagle is the Imperial eagle and indicates that the Wetterau area historically was an Imperlial possession. The lower part of the arms shows the arms of the Lords of Isenburg-Büdingen, who acquired most of the area in the former district of Büdingen. The wavy bar symbolises the Wetter river.
