Origin/meaning
The arms show the head of St. John on a platter. St. John is the patron saint of the local church as well of the diocese of Wroclaw, to which the village belonged.
The image supposedly was already present on the oldest seal of the city, which was stolen in 1364. The oldest existing seal dates from the 15th century and shows the head flanked by two fleur-de-lys.
