WIEN-PÖTZLEINSDORF

State : Wien (Vienna)

Wappen von Wien-Pötzleinsdorf

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show St Giles (Aegidius) in the attire of a monk with a hind and a fir tree behind him. St. Giles is the patron saint of the old Pötzleinsdorf parish church. The name was first mentioned in 1112 as "Pezelinisdorf" and probably derives from its owner or founder, one "Pezili".
