WIEN-UNTERMEIDLING

State : Wien (Vienna)

W-unterm.jpg

Origin/meaning

The top part shows a Spring Nymph holding an Amphore in each hand. Each of them represents a Thermal Spring, the "Pfann'sche Bad" and the "Theresien Bad". The springs were already used many centuries ago for healthcare as the water is rich in sulphur. Both springs are still in use.

The bottom shows the Roman Border Mark (Römischer Grenzstein des Limes) which was found in this district part.
