Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 25, 1966.

The arms are probably based on the arms of the Lord von Zipplingen, who lived in medieval times on the local castle. Their arms showed two silver swords, placed next to each other, in red. The crossed swords were probably chosen to distinguish the arms of the village from those of the family.

The crossed swords were already used on the village seal in the early 20th century (at least since 1910). The municipality also used the arms in colour since 1938, without a formal grant. Only in 1966 the arms were formally granted.
