Origin/meaning

The flame symbolizes the Holy Spirit, to remember that Bishop Blouin was chaplain for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for many years. The seven points star represents the Blessed Virgin, Our Lady ("Stella matutina”); it is in argent, the colour of the transparency, of the purity.

The waves recall the sea which surrounds the Diocese of Lae and all Papua New Guinea. The People of God of Morobe province, where Lae is located, is reflected by the famous pine tree of Bulolo, the klinki tree.

The fleur de lis, is a typical symbol of Quebec and underlines the roots of the bishop

The purpure (purple) colour symbolizes the devotion, important dowry which has to accompany the mission of the bishop.
