Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: A shield blazoned: Per bend sinister Vert and Argent a Pinto horse forcene contourné and reguardant Proper all within a narrow border of the first. Attached above the shield a Green scroll edged with a narrow Green border and inscribed “MORIARTY” in White letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in height by 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of an escutcheon per fess Or and per pale Vert and Argent, charged in chief with a Zia Sun Gules and in dexter a sword bendwise sinister in saltire with a quill pen, to sinister a lamp fired Or. Attached below a tri-parted Gold scroll inscribed “MOTIVATED, DEDICATED, FIRED UP” in Red letters. Attached above a Gold demi-sphere bearing the crest blazoned: From a wreath Argent and Vert a demi-horse traversed reguardant Gules.
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: The shield in the school colors of green and white reflects the cadets’ dedication to support school, community and country. The “fighting pinto” suggests the cadets’ spirit of devotion to education, loyalty and service.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: The shield reflecting the school colors symbolizes the cadets’ dedication to school, community and country. The sword signifies the honor and integrity. The quill pen denotes the cadet’s values of education. The lamp signifies a desire for knowledge. The Zia Sun symbol suggests the New Mexico State flag and indicates the location of the school. The horse in the crest represents the “Fighting Pinto” the school mascot.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 5 June 2000.
